"Just A Dog"

Beagle I would like to thank the anonymous person who penned this lovely work.  It arrived on my "virtual" doorstep unsigned and uncredited.

Just A Dog

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog."

They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."

Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted.

Our Cats and Dogs Can Teach Us So Much

Words of Wisdom From Our Furry Canine Friends
RoscoelgWhen loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.!
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout.
Run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Groggy & Bleary Eyed

All groggy and bleary eyed this morning. Sleep has eluded me this past week and so this morning I decided to take Tookie (my new Shih Tzu) out at 4 AM. I did this not only to relieve her, but in hopes that she wouldn’t want to wake me a couple of hours later... if I was lucky enough to go back to sleep. She was so confused and didn’t want to get out of bed! Then she didn’t want to come down the stairs. “What the heck is she up to now?” After much coaxing she agreed to go into the back yard if I kept her company, but it wasn’t much fun… the squirrels were still all cozy in their nests. No body to play with, no noises to investigate and nothing scary to bark at. Come on Mom, let’s go back to bed!

Hope y’all got a good night's sleep.
